Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale & Spider With 1016bhp Output Globally Unveiled

Both Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider use a 4.0-litre V8 with twin turbochargers and are powered by two electric motors at the front and another that aids the engine and transmission. With 1,016bhp, it easily surpasses the standard SF90 Stradale's 986bhp.

The Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider are the company's first road-legal XX vehicles, limited editions that fill the gap between the Special Series and XX programs. The Prancing Horse's first series-produced hybrid vehicle, the SF90 Stradale supercar, was launched in 2019. You may remember that Ferrari's XX programme gave birth to such beasts as the FXX-K, the 599XX, and the FXX based on the Enzo, while the Special Series programme produced such masterpieces as the 812 Competizione. The standard SF90's mix of a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors remains unchanged, but the new system generates 1016bhp. For the first time since the F50 in 1995, Ferrari has used a permanent rear wing on a road vehicle to improve stability.

Ferrari SF90 XX and SF90 XX Spider: Design

Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale Front

The SF90 XX Stradale is the ultimate iteration of the SF90 Stradale, and as such, it was designed according to the standards of a track vehicle while still meeting the requirements for road usage. However, the SF90 XX Stradale is more than simply a variant—it's the first XX model to leave the factory, bringing the most advanced aerodynamic efficiency and power from the Prancing Horse racetrack to the street.

Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale Rear

The SF90 XX Stradale looks like a refined evolution of the original model, the SF90, with a focus on the clean lines and shapes that made the original so successful. The rear wing of the SF90 XX Stradale is undeniably one of the car's most defining features. Because of aerodynamic improvements made to the tail volume, the automobile now exhibits the characteristic long tail profile of racing vehicles. Increases in intercooler air intake size improve airflow directionality to the radiators.

Ferrari SF90 XX Spider Front

The SF90 XX Stradale has kept the original design of its front wings, which have the form of an arrow. There are now two exterior vertical wing profiles that connect the headlights, which have a lower top profile than before, to this region. The SF90 XX has more advanced aero parts from Ferrari while the previous model had a large outlet on the hood. Each side of the nose has two ducts, and the bridge of the nose has two more. Each forewing/fender has three gills.

The back end is given just as much care as the front. The engine cover has two openings, one on each side of the roof. Changes have been made to the wing/fender apertures, and three gills have been installed behind them. Ferrari's cars have a fixed wing at the very rear. The company claims it is the first street-legal vehicle they have produced since the F50 to come equipped with one.

Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale Interior

Comparable to the SF90 XX Stradale, the SF90 XX Spider differs primarily in that its roof can be opened in only 14 seconds. As a result of the convertible top's redesign, the coupe's rear deck no longer has as many outlets.

Ferrari SF90 XX and SF90 XX Spider: Engine

Two electric motors power the front wheels, while another assists the engine and gearbox in both variants, which continue to employ a 4.0-litre V8 with twin turbochargers. The increased output of 1,016bhp compares well to the base SF90 Stradale's 986bhp.

The V8 in the SF90 XX Stradale alone now produces 786bhp, up from the previous iteration's 769bhp. New pistons, fine-tuned machining of the combustion chamber, and updated intake and exhaust ducts are just a few of the upgrades to this engine.

Additionally, the electric motors' output has been increased, from 217bhp to 229bhp. The battery still has a 7.9 kilowatt-hour capacity. The electric-only range remains at 25km, while the maximum speed in EV mode remains at 135km/h.

As before, the transmission is a dual-clutch eight-speed. The updated software now makes a sound while shifting gears that is similar to the one made by the exhaust when the throttle is released at high rpm.

They both can hit 100km/h in 2.3 seconds and can go on to achieve a top speed of 320kph.
