Force Gurkha 5-door SUV Teased Ahead of Upcoming India Launch, Reveals New Design Details

Force Motors has teased the new Gurkha 5-door on social media, hinting at its upcoming launch. The SUV retains the boxy and bold appearance of its three-door sibling, which is also getting a makeover, according to the most recent teaser. The new 5-door variant sports circular LED headlamps with LED DRLs and a grille with the 'Gurkha' logo, similar to the 3-door model. To make the SUV stand out, the Pune-based automaker could make some changes to the front and rear sections. The fresh alloy wheel design and other functional features, such as a snorkel, a roof rack with a jerry can holder and a rear ladder, can also be seen in the new teaser. The brand hasn't revealed exact details about the upcoming 5-door model's cabin yet. However, market reports and spy photos suggest that the new Gurkha will have multiple seating options, including three rows. It is likely to feature a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12V power outlet, manual air conditioning, front power windows, a tyre pressure monitoring system, dual front airbags, and ABS and rear parking sensors.

Force Gurkha 5-door: Engine 

Force Motors has not disclosed any details about the powertrain. The new Gurkha, with a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, is likely to sport the same 2.6-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 88.7bhp and 215Nm. For increased power requirements, the engine could undergo some modifications.

Force Gurkha 5-door: Rivals and Price 

The new Force Gurkha 5-door will likely command a premium of more than Rs 1 lakh over the price of the 3-door model, which currently retails at Rs 15.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new SUV will compete with vehicles such as the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door. While the exact launch date is yet to be announced, Force Motors is expected to introduce the new 5-door model, alongside the updated 3-door version, later this month.
