Despite being launched two years ago and crossing 60,000 bookings in the first month of getting launched, the Ford EcoSport has finally sold 2,00,000 units from India.

When this car was launched in the Indian market somewhere in June 2013, everyone thought that the Ford EcoSport was going to smash all the records in the automobile industry. So was the buzz of the vehicle that the car got over 60,000 bookings in just one month’s time after its launch. But thanks to the production capacities of Ford India, they could never encash what the market had to offer. Limited production, poor supply chain, and various other reasons made sure that the rate with which its popularity rose, it fell faster than that. Nevertheless, Ford India has finally managed to do what it could very well do in a few months time two years ago.

Ford India has successfully sold 2,00,000 EcoSports in the Indian market from the time of its introduction. Out of these sales figures, 1,12,000 proud owners are the residents of India, and rest belong  to the international markets to which Ford caters to from its facility in Chennai.

Commenting on the ‘success’ story of the EcoSport, Anurag Mehrotra, Executive Director – Marketing, Sales & Service at Ford India, said, “The EcoSport, since its launch, has been appreciated for its compelling value proposition and we would like to thank all our customers for their patronage. Ford EcoSport created the compact SUV segment and dominates the market owing to its unmatched value. The 2,00,000 sales milestone is yet another testament to the inherent strengths of our compact SUV that continues to set new benchmarks even in a challenging market.”

Another feather in EcoSport’s hat was bagging 30 prestigious auto awards within the first year of its launch.
