Ford has extended the production of the Ford GT from its initial two year run to a combined four-year production.

When thousands of applications from prospective Ford GT customers came pouring into the Ford Motor Company’s mail box. Ford took all applications and assessed customers if they were capable of being an ambassador for the brand and their latest supercar. But the number of applications over exceeded the number of cars Ford was to produce. This eventually led Ford to rejected most of them and only a few were chosen worthy of owning a Ford GT.

But now, rejected applicants have a second chance of owning a Ford GT as Ford has extended the production of the car for an additional two years. While the first two years of the production have been completely sold out, the third year will cater to applicants who have been wait-listed. Applicants who have initially been denied or for customers who missed the first application window will see their cars be produced in the fourth year. Ford will accept new applications for the Ford GT from early 2018.

In addition to the extended production of the Ford GT, Ford has also confirmed that it will continue their racing campaign with the GT racecars. Ford will also compete in the IMSA and World Endurance Championship (WEC) series for four full years.
