Honda 0 Series Saloon Concept

At the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, Honda has presented two electric concepts previewing its new '0 Series' that will be rolled out in global markets starting in 2026. The '0 Series' is Honda's new EV range, which is said to be a symbol of a major transformation in line with its Global Brand Slogan and electrification policy. With this EV series, the automaker intends to go back to its 'starting point' and build new electric vehicles from 'zero'.

According to Honda, both 0 Series EV concepts are based on the company's "Thin, Light and Wise" approach. The first of these is a stylish flagship sedan dubbed the Saloon. Honda says that the new Saloon concept will be the first model in the 0 Series lineup to be rolled off the assembly line. The production-spec Saloon will arrive first in North America in 2026, followed by Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

Honda 0 Series Saloon Concept Interior

In terms of appearance, the new Saloon concept is a low-slung electric sedan, with a front fascia characterised by high-set LED headlamp units as well as a digital panel featuring a new Honda logo that will be seen on its future electric car line-up. Then, there is a short bonnet, a low-set windscreen blending into a panoramic glass roof, and massive gullwing doors – the latter of which may not make it to the production-spec model. At the rear, the digital panel closely resembles the one upfront.

While the exterior design is close to production-ready, the final interior design will be different from the one showcased. The concept features a yoke-style steering, a steer-by-wire system, and an instrument panel with a human-machine interface (HMI). It can accommodate up to four people.

The auto giant has yet to reveal complete technical details. However, we do know that the Saloon will sit on a new EV platform, and will be powered by e-axles – integrating motors, inverters, and gearboxes into one unit. Apart from that, it will use high-density lightweight battery packs yielding an increased range (over 483km). As for its charging capabilities, the new EV will be capable of charging from 10 to 80 per cent in 15 minutes.

Honda '0 Series' Space-Hub: Exterior, Interior, Drivetrain

Honda 0 Series Space Hub

Like the Saloon, the 0 Series Space-Hub is based on the company's "Thin, Light, and Wise" development approach. The Space-Hub is an all-electric van that adopts the common design language of the Honda 0 series. The EV comes with an illuminated panel with a new 'H' logo in the middle, twin-stacked headlamps, and a panoramic glass roof integrated into a windshield. At the rear, the concept van features a box-like design, with a 'Honda' badge in its centre and taillights along its edges.

Inside, the Space-Hub is divided into sections: front and rear. The former can seat up to two people, while the latter has a seating capacity of four. The dashboard is a fusion of an infotainment system and other displays for vehicle-related information. Other bits are a gear selector and a huge curved display at the rear.

The brand has offered no technical details of the Honda 0 Series Space-Hub. While the Saloon will be launched in 2026, the people-mover has not been confirmed for production.

Moreover, all 0 Series EVs will get Honda Sensing Elite, a Level 3 driver assistance system that is currently available with the Honda Legend sedan in the US. Honda says that this system will use advanced AI (artificial intelligence), sensing, recognition/decision-making, and driver-monitoring technologies to provide more human-like, natural responses.
