Honda BRV launched at Rs. 8.75 lakh

Honda has launched the Honda BRV Compact SUV in India for a starting price of Rs. 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The long awaited entry for Honda cars in the Compact SUV segment is finally over as Honda has now launched the BR-V in India. The Honda BRV is priced it between Rs. 8.75 lakh for the base variant and Rs. 12.90 lakh for the top variant.

The Honda BRV will get three engine options. The first is the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, i-Dtec engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The manual diesel option has a power output of 100hp and delivers 200Nm of torque. The Honda BR-V also gets a petrol option with two choices of transmissions. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, i-Vtec motor has an option of a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. Mated to either of the drivetrains, the Honda BRV churns out 119hp and 145Nm of torque. The diesel option has a claimed fuel economy of 21.9km/l. however the manual petrol claims to give 15.4km/l opposed to the 16km/l of the CVT variant.

The Honda BR-V has a collapsible electronic power steering system, with McPherson strut with coil spring suspension at the front and a Torsion beam with coil springs at the rear. Honda will offer the BRV with 195/60 R16 size wheels which will be available in alloys and steel rims depending on the variant.

The Honda BR-V is the only vehicle in the segment that has a seating capacity of 7 people. In addition to that, the Honda BRV gets Push-button start with Keyless entry, electronic ORVMs, front fog lamps, LED Daytime running lights, front and rear skid-plates, leather upholstery with leather wrapped steering wheel, dual front airbags, ABS and EBD, projector headlamps, roof rails, 2 DIN audio player with Bluetooth, multi function steering wheel, automatic climate control and rear AC vents among many other features.
