Although Hyundai has yet to officially confirm the details, the facelifted Exter is expected to continue with the same mechanical package (a 1.2-litre Kappa 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine).

Hyundai appears to be preparing a mid-cycle update for the Exter, as a camouflaged test mule of the compact SUV was recently spotted on Indian roads. While the heavy camouflage conceals most details, the test bed suggests a subtly tweaked front end, likely featuring a revised grille and bumper. The changes along the sides are expected to be minimal, whereas the rear could feature a redesigned tailgate, rectangular taillights, and a new bumper.
The cabin is not visible in the most recent images, but the facelifted Exter is expected to include key upgrades such as a larger infotainment system and a dual-pane sunroof. The Exter currently starts at Rs 5.68 lakh, and the upcoming update is likely to bring a noticeable price increase.

Hyundai offers a 1.2-litre Kappa 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine in the existing Exter that generates 82bhp and 113.8Nm, and is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The same unit is also available with a CNG, producing power and torque outputs of 68bhp and 95.2Nm, respectively, with a five-speed manual transmission. Although Hyundai has yet to officially confirm the details, the facelifted Exter is expected to continue with the same mechanical package.
The Exter is already well-equipped in terms of features, but the upcoming facelift is expected to elevate it further with more modern technology. These updates will significantly enhance the model’s competitiveness in the crowded entry-level SUV segment.

From a brand perspective, the facelift will enable Hyundai to appeal to newer, more modern buyers in the segment while avoiding the expense of a completely new model.
In terms of market rivalry, Hyundai's SUV will continue to lock horns with the Tata Punch, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and the Renault Kiger.
