Hyundai Exter SUV Spotted Testing Ahead of India Launch on July 10

The South Korean automaker is preparing to launch the much-awaited Exter SUV shortly in the country. Before its launch, the SUV has recently been spotted undergoing road testing. The SUV, however, was heavily camouflaged. The spy video circulating on the internet has given a glimpse of the upcoming car's rear and side profiles. For our market, the four-wheeler has already been officially teased several times. A while ago, the carmaker shared interior details of the SUV. Inside, according to Hyundai, the all-new Exter SUV will have an 8-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system and a digital cluster with a 4.2-inch colour TFT Multi-Information Display, which supports Bluelink technology. Let's a take closer look at the recent spy shots of the SUV and the details they reveal.

Hyundai Exter SUV: Recent Spy Shots

As seen in the spy video, the sides and the rear end are hidden, but a few details are still visible. The test mule features H-shaped taillamps, which are also evident in the photos released by Hyundai. Additionally, the SUV appears white from the sides, with black roof rails and silver alloy wheels.

Hyundai Exter SUV: Powertrain

The Exter will have the same engine that powers the Grand i10 Nios – a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit capable of producing 82bhp and 114Nm. For transmission, it will employ a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. It will also have a factory-installed CNG kit, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, offering lower power output.

Hyundai Exter: Dimensions & Safety

The upcoming SUV by Hyundai will measure 1,631mm in height and between 3,800mm and 3,900mm in length. It will have a wheelbase of 2,450mm. In terms of safety, the SUV will feature six airbags as standard on all models. Also, Hyundai will offer up to 26 safety features across all models, except for the E and S variants.

Hyundai Exter: India Launch & Market Competitors

Hyundai has confirmed that the Exter will be launched in our market on July 10. The brand-new SUV is expected to have a starting price of Rs 6 Lakh (ex-showroom). When introduced in India, the Exter SUV will compete with the likes of the Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Tata Punch, and Citroen C3.
