Hyundai has launched the Sportz (O) variant of the i20 hatchback in India, with prices starting at Rs 8.73 lakh for a single-tone colour and going up to Rs 8.88 lakh for a dual-tone colour. Both prices are ex-showroom. Based on the Sportz variant, the new Sportz (O) variant gets three additional features, such as an electrically adjustable sunroof, a leatherette finish on the door armrest, and wireless charging. Meanwhile, it retains all of the other features that the Sportz variant offers. These include LED tail lamps, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, a height-adjustable driver seat, a rear parking camera, a cooled glovebox, cruise control, automatic climate control, and a rear defogger.

Hyundai i20 Sportz (O): Mechanical Specs

Under the hood, the Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that is coupled to a manual transmission. This engine is capable of churning out 82bhp of maximum power and 115Nm of peak torque, while the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, earmarked for the i20 N-Line, has been discontinued by the carmaker.

Hyundai i20: Exterior

The exterior design elements of the facelifted model include a redesigned grille, headlamps with inverted L-shaped LED daytime running lights, altered front and rear bumpers, and a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels. Similar to the Verna, the new Hyundai logo is now positioned on the bonnet rather than the grille. The latest iteration of the hatchback is offered in eight different paint schemes – Amazon Grey, Starry Night, Fiery Red, Atlas White, Titan Grey, Typhoon Silver, Fiery Red with a black roof, and Atlas White with a black roof.

Hyundai i20: Variants

Other than a new Sportz (O) variant, the new Hyundai i20 is available in five variants – Era, Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta(O). The Era, the Magna, and the Asta are available with manual transmission only and are priced at Rs 7.04 lakh, Rs 7.75 lakh, and Rs 9.34 lakh, respectively. On the other hand, the Sportz and the Asta (O) get a choice of either a manual transmission or an IVT. The price of the i20 Sportz starts at Rs 8.38 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.43 lakh, while the Asta (O) retails at a starting price of Rs 10 lakh and tops out at Rs 11.21 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

Hyundai i20: Interior, Features

Depending on the variants, the hatchback's cabin includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an electric sunroof, a seven-speaker Bose music system, a digital driver's display, wireless phone charging, USB Type-C fast charging connectors, and an air purifier. Other bits include Hyundai's BlueLink connectivity, OTA updates, and TPMS. In terms of safety, 6 airbags, electronic stability control, HAC, VSM, ABS, EBD, etc. are offered as standard.

Hyundai i20: Rivals

In terms of market rivalry, the Hyundai i20 goes up against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Tata Altroz, and others.
