The all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 with the N performance treatment has debuted at the ongoing Goodwood FoS. According to the company, the latest masterpiece is the first electric N model, which will forge the path for the N brand's future of high-performance electric cars. Dimensionally, the N version is 20mm lower, 50mm broader, and 80mm longer than the standard Ioniq 5. It has larger 21-inch forged aluminium wheels covered in the Pirelli P-Zero rubber. Further, it sports a few performance-enhancing design elements from Hyundai. There is an N Mask graphic fascia with functional mesh, an air curtain, and air flaps for added cooling up front. A lip spoiler that spans the lower portion of the bumper emphasizes the model's low stance and depicts its performance purpose. Also, the continuation of the Luminous Orange, which is an EV N-exclusive hue, along the side skirts of the black front bumper cover, offers the model a racetrack-ready appearance.

In order to manage airflow and ensure ideal aerodynamic performance, the model's rear has an N-only wing-type spoiler, a rear diffuser, and an air outlet. These also emphasize the high-performance capabilities of the Ioniq 5 N and contribute to its aggressive appearance. An N-only HMSL brake light with a triangular shape is built inside the spoiler. Moreover, an N-exclusive black bumper cover with checker flag reflector designs is located below the rear hatch. Additionally, this is the only Ioniq 5 model with a rear window wiper. Let's have a look at more features of this new model.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: Powertrain & Hardware

Two electric motors with a combined output of 601bhp drive the N model. However, in Hyundai's boost mode, N Grin Boost, they create 641bhp, allowing the vehicle to reach a high speed of 260 km/h while accelerating from a stop to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The torque capacity of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is unknown. The model gets an 84kWh battery pack, which can be charged from 10% to 80% using a 350kWh fast charger in about 18 minutes. Hyundai has not yet announced the driving range as of yet.

Braking is accomplished by a single-piston, 360mm rear disc, and a four-piston, 400mm front disc. These brakes are lightweight, the automaker claims, and have optimised airflow for better cooling. As indicated before, the 275-section Pirelli P Zero tyres are specially calibrated for the N model and are mounted on 21-inch forged aluminium wheels. The all-electric car can pull up to 0.6g while stopping solely using regenerative braking. Regen contributes 80–90% of the braking force when driving normally, but only 40–50% when driving on a racecourse.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N's interior paint job is more sporty than its standard counterpart. It gets a new steering system with paddles that may be adjusted for different purposes. The N Grin Boost button activates the boost mode. Knee padding and shin supports have been added to the centre console, which has been modified for track driving. To provide support for cornering, Hyundai strengthened the bolsters on the bucket seats, which are set 20mm lower than those on the standard Ioniq 5 N.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: Features & More

Corner Rascal, Racecourse Capability, and Everyday Sportscar are the three pillars on which the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is based. These performance pillars, according to Hyundai, are the outcome of employing modern technologies drawn from racing and years of research and development in the "Rolling Labs." The brand has further shared that the vehicle's Corner Rascal capabilities are made possible by the reinforced body and chassis components that offer excellent torsional rigidity and accurate steering response. It also enables cornering with dual-motor all-wheel drive that is rally-inspired.

Besides this, the Ioniq 5 N also offers a variety of new, exclusive performance functions, including N Drift Optimizer, N Torque Distribution, N Battery Preconditioning, N Race, N Pedal, N Brake Regen,  N Launch Control, N Grin Boost, and many others. It also has additional amenities found in the standard model, including the vehicle-to-load (V2L) system.
