Hyundai Kona Electric price reduced by Rs 1.59 lakh after GST revision
After the reduction of GST on electric vehicles from 12 per cent to 5 per cent, Hyundai has slashed the price of the Kona Electric to Rs 23.71 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has already received over 150 bookings though.

It was only last month when Hyundai launched its first ever fully electric vehicle, the Kona Electric, in India. At Rs 25.30 lakh (ex-showroom), it carried a very tempting price-tag for what is a full-blown electric vehicle. However, thanks to the Government of India’s recent announcement of reducing GST on electric vehicles, the deal on the Kona EV has sweetened further. Its price has now gone down by a full Rs 1.59 lakh, meaning the Kona EV now carries a price tag of Rs 23.71 lakh (ex-showroom)!
The GST rate on electric vehicles was reduced from 12 per cent earlier to 5 per cent, effective August 1, 2019. The reduction in taxes means that all the electric vehicles are now more affordable than a month ago. In fact, the Kona Electric is probably one of the biggest beneficiaries from the change in the taxation plan. That being said, even at its launch price, the Kona Electric has already caught the attention of a lot of environment conscious buyers as Hyundai claims to have received 152 bookings of the EV already.
The Kona EV features a liquid-cooled 39.2kWh Li-ion battery pack and the EV is claimed to have a power output of 134bhp, along with 395Nm of torque. It can do 0-100km/h in 9.7 seconds and has an ARAI certified range of 452km on a full charge. The Hyundai Kona Electric is currently sold through 15 dealerships in 11 cities, namely, Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Pune, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Lucknow.
