The old 1.4-litre diesel motor has now been replaced by a larger 1.5-litre motor. The 1.0-litre turbo and the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol have been updated to meet BS-VI norms. Price starts at Rs 6.70 lakh

Hyundai’s sub-4 metre SUV, the Venue, was BS-IV compliant at the time of its launch in May 2019. The Korean carmaker has now updated it to comply with the BS-VI norms. Prices of the BS-VI Venue start at Rs 6.7 lakh – which is an increase of Rs 20,000 over the BS-IV model. The new 1.5-litre diesel powered SX(O) trim that sits at the top of the variant range is priced at Rs 11.40 lakh – an increase of an insane Rs 56,000 over the outgoing 1.4-litre diesel trim.

The 2020 Hyundai Venue continues with the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and 1.0-litre turbo petrol motors. While the former continues to develop 82bhp and 115Nm, the latter has been rated at 118bhp and 172Nm. The 1.2-litre motor only comes in two variants, both of which have been paired with a 5-speed manual. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol on the other hand, continues to be paired with 6-speed manual or a DCT option.

As will be the case with most other Hyundai BS-VI models, the 1.4-litre diesel has been given the boot, and in its place comes a larger 1.5-litre motor. This motor is the same one that also works on the Seltos and in the Venue, it makes 99bhp and 240Nm. Interestingly, it still doesn’t come with an automatic transmission option.

In terms of variants and what they come packed with, there isn’t much change from the model it replaces. The Hyundai Venue continues to compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and more.
