Hyundai Venue launched in India

Hyundai's new compact SUV hits the showroom floors today with prices starting from ₹ 6.5 lakh and going up to ₹ 11.10 lakh for the top-spec 1.0-litre petrol SX(O) version.

Touted as India's first connected car, the Hyundai Venue has been launched today with prices starting from ₹ 6.5 lakh (Ex-showroom). The Venue will be available in four variants: E, S, SX and SX (O). While all the powertrain options have been detailed below, what's interesting here is how Hyundai has distributed them in the variant line-up. The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol motor will be available only in the base E & S variants while the new 1.0-litre Kappa Turbo unit will be offered in the higher S, SX and SX(O) variants out of which SX won't be offered with the seven-speed automatic DCT. The diesel motor is the only option which is being offered across all four variants. To appeal to a younger customer base, the Venue has been launched with seven exterior colour options, out of which three colours can be ordered with a contrast roof option.

A key USP of the Venue is the long list of segment-first features it brings to the crop of compact SUVs currently sold in India. The list includes features like a seven-speed automatic DCT, wireless charging, an air purifier, projector fog lamps, an 8-inch HD infotainment touchscreen, wheel air curtains, an Arkamys sound system, eco-coating. Further, to provide an after-sales incentive, Hyundai is offering 3-years/unlimited kilometres warranty as standard, bundled with a complimentary 3-year Roadside Assistance (RSA) and BlueLink subscription package.

As informed earlier, the Venue offers three engine options - a new 1.0-litre Kappa T-GDI petrol motor (turbocharged), a naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre petrol motor and the familiar 1.4-litre turbo diesel unit (found in the Elite i20 and lower variants of the Creta). While the 1.2-litre petrol will come paired to a five-speed manual gearbox, the diesel gets a six-speed manual transmission. The new 1.0-litre turbocharged unit offers two transmission options - a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).
