India-bound 2024 Toyota Vellfire MPV Unveiled Globally, Gets Hybrid Powertrain and ADAS

The fourth-generation 2024 Vellfire luxury MPV has been introduced by Toyota Motor Corporation globally. In the upcoming months, buyers worldwide will be able to purchase the Vellfire and its sibling model, the Alphard, which are now on sale in Japan. India already sells the Vellfire, and the fourth-generation model is anticipated to come here in 2024. After the new Vellfire MPV was leaked last month, the auto manufacturer made the first set of official photos and specs available. For those unaware, the more opulent second-generation Lexus LM350h MPV that debuted a few weeks ago and the new Toyota Vellfire are sibling products. The new-gen Toyota Vellfire will be equipped with a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid drivetrain as well as a 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, the automaker has not released any performance figures for the model.

2024 Toyota Vellfire MPV: Hybrid Powertrain

Under the hood of the new Vellfire is where you'll see one of the most significant changes. Two petrol engines are now included in Toyota Motor, one of which integrates hybrid technology. For the majority of its most recent models, Toyota has been betting on hybrid powertrains. When the Vellfire is introduced in India, it will join other vehicles with hybrid powertrains like the Urban Cruiser HyRyder and the Innova Hycross.

The Toyota Vellfire 2024 will include a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid drivetrain with a 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The Japanese carmaker has not disclosed either of its performance statistics. The hybrid version is projected to provide about 250bhp of maximum power, while the turbocharged petrol engine is expected to produce roughly 260bhp of peak power. The engines will be coupled to either an Electric continuously variable gearbox unit or a Direct Shift 8-speed automatic gearbox. Further, in the new Vellfire, Toyota offers both a two-wheel drive and a four-wheel drive system.

2024 Toyota Vellfire MPV: ADAS

Additionally, the Toyota Vellfire will have ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology. Notably, when it launches, it will be the first MPV in India to provide the feature. The updated Vellfire will be fitted with Toyota's Safety Sense system, which includes features like remote parking, radar cruise control, lane tracing assistance, and proactive driving assistance for lane changes.

2024 Toyota Vellfire MPV: Exterior Styling and Platform

The new Lexus LM and the 2024 Toyota Vellfire MPV are both built on the TNGA-K platform. According to the automaker, the all-new Vellfire is an entirely new car built on a fresh basis. The MPV has gotten longer but still kept its boxy shape. The new model is an improvement over the previous one when it comes to design. The glasshouse on the sidewalls is one continuous unit that runs continuously from the front to the back. The headlamps are divided, with the LED DRLs in the bottom half, and are bordered by a large 6-slat grille with the Toyota emblem in the centre. A noticeable connecting chrome strip that forms a U-shaped design starts vertically below the headlight on one side of the chin and links to the opposite side. A big spoiler and V-shaped LED taillamps with plenty of chrome are added to the back. The Vellfire features a three-metre-long wheelbase and plenty of space for up to six people because of its cab-forward design. 

2024 Toyota Vellfire MPV: Interior Features

The new Vellfire has a number of enhancements that were intended with passenger comfort in mind. The interior has a dashboard with integrated controls and a huge touchscreen display, as well as more comfortable seats. A large overhead console, several AC vents, and freshly designed pull-down sunshades are all convenient for occupants. Toyota has also improved sound insulation and decreased vibrations for a calmer and more opulent interior ambience. The full-size business-class captain chairs in the second row may recline all the way for the utmost comfort. The popular Executive Lounge option for the Vellfire continues to provide heated and ventilated captain chairs with a retractable table. The media, temperature, and sunshade controls are now accessible to passengers through a removable control panel.

2024 Toyota Vellfire MPV: India Launch

Despite being in a small market, the Vellfire has won over many Indian buyers. It has greatly benefited from the absence of a direct competitor in India. The new 2024 Toyota Vellfire MPV is anticipated to come to India early next year, albeit the manufacturer has not confirmed it. The price will likely be close to Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom).
