Jeep Compass variant break-up explained

Here is a closer look at how the Jeep Compass is equipped in each variant in detail.

When Jeep launched their brand new Compass SUV in India, the price left people picking up their jaws from the floor.

With a starting price of just Rs. 14.95 lakh for the base petrol version, the new Jeep Compass has found many people clawing at the car with desire as the highly localised SUV gathered over 5000 bookings.

Jeep offers the Compass in India with one petrol and one diesel engine, both of which come with manual gearboxes. An automatic option with the petrol engine is also on offer, while the diesel automatic Compass will be introduced at a later stage. The Compass is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged Multijet diesel engine which develops 172bhp and 350Nm of torque. The MultiAir turbo petrol engine has a displacement of 1.4-litres. This motor churns out 160bhp and 250Nm. Both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, while the automatic petrol engine features a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission option.

The Jeep Compass with the petrol engine is offered in three variants – Sport, Limited and Limited Option with the higher two trims featuring the automatic gearbox. The diesel powered Compass comes in Sport, Longitude, Longitude Option, Limited and Limited Option. The 4X4 option is only offered in the top two trims of with the diesel engine only.
