Jeep recently announced a recall of more than 32,000 Wrangler 4xe cars (2021-2024) in the U.S., owing to a possible fire hazard. This move has been made following an internal inquiry from a regular assessment of customer data undertaken by Stellantis—Jeep's parent firm—which found roughly eight car fire incidents that prompted the recall of 32,125 US models. According to the company, Six of the eight vehicle fires, happened while the plug-in hybrid models were attached to chargers. Moreover, these vehicles were parked and turned off when the fires started. The parent company has also confirmed that no incidents or injuries have been reported due to the fires. Stellantis stated that in addition to the US market, 3856 units in Canada and 9249 models outside of North America have also been impacted. For these vehicles, the company intends to apply a software fix to resolve the issue. The company further announced that if a specific error persists, replacing the battery pack will be the solution.

The carmaker has stated that service scheduling information will be sent to the impacted consumers. The precise timeframe for the notification hasn't been stated, though. As previously indicated, even though the recall includes specifically 2021–2024 manufactured models, only 1% of the impacted vehicles have the fault, claims the company. According to Jeep, owners can keep operating their cars but are advised to park them away from other cars and buildings. The company also refrains clients from recharging their Wranglers until they are rectified.
