Kia has launched the Carens Clavis EV in India, about a month after the launch of its ICE counterpart. The Carens Clavis EV is offered in four variants: HTK Plus, HTX, HTX (Extended Range), and HTX Plus (Extended Range), catering to a broad range of buyers. Customers can choose from six colour options – Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Gray, Aurora Black Pearl, Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue, and Ivory Silver Matte. Pricing for the standard-range models starts at Rs 17.99 lakh for the HTK+ and Rs 20.49 lakh for the HTX. In the extended-range lineup, the HTX is priced at Rs 22.49 lakh, while the top-spec HTX+ comes in at Rs 24.49 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). Bookings for the electric MPV are set to open on July 22.

Design-wise, the EV maintains the overall structure of the standard Clavis but introduces signature electric vehicle styling cues. A blanked-out front panel replaces the grille, incorporating the charging port and lending a cleaner, more high-tech appearance.

The front fascia is further sharpened by ice-cube-styled fog lights. While the silhouette remains consistent, newly designed aerodynamic wheels help differentiate it. At the rear, familiar styling elements return, such as the full-width LED taillight bar and rear defogger.
Powering the Clavis EV is a 51.4kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed ARAI-certified range of up to 490 km on a single charge. There is also a 42kWh battery with 404 km range. The model retains a front-wheel-drive layout and is powered by a single motor mounted on the front axle, churning out 169bhp and 255Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 8.4 seconds and supports 100 kW DC fast charging.
Kia appears poised to offer the Clavis EV with a robust suite of tech-driven comforts and safety enhancements. Inside, the electric SUV features a striking two-tone black-and-white theme, anchored by a pair of seamlessly integrated 12.3-inch screens and a clean, two-spoke steering wheel. Though the cabin layout closely mirrors that of its petrol counterpart, the EV gains a redesigned lower console for added storage and exclusive digital graphics tailored to its electric drivetrain.

Notable convenience features include an 8-speaker Bose sound system, shift-by-wire gear selector, wireless charging access for front and rear seats, a powered and ventilated driver’s seat, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, 64-colour ambient lighting, glare-reducing auto-dimming IRVM, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, and a panoramic sunroof to enhance in-cabin spaciousness.
The vehicle also comes with paddle shifters to toggle between four regenerative braking levels, along with an i-Pedal function for one-pedal driving. Active air vents improve aerodynamic performance, while a 25-litre front trunk (frunk) adds extra storage space.
The Clavis EV offers a comprehensive safety suite that includes all-wheel disc brakes, six airbags, hill-start assist, electronic stability control (ESC), and Level 2 ADAS with features such as lane-keep assist and smart cruise control. Additional safety technologies like a 360-degree camera, dual-camera dash cam, blind-spot monitoring, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) further strengthen its safety credentials.
