The new Kia Seltos, which was launched in January this year, has earned a 5-star safety rating in the latest round of the Bharat NCAP crash tests. It scored 31.70 points out of a maximum 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 45 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection. The SUV was tested in HTE (O) and GTX trims. It comes equipped with ISOFIX mounts, ESC, six airbags, seat belt reminders, and Level-2 ADAS with 21 autonomous features, such as driver attention warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, front collision warning and avoidance assist, lane following assist, high beam assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Let’s take a closer look at the crash test results of the Seltos SUV.
During the crash test, the Kia SUV showcased strong performance across the board. It attained 15.70 out of 16.00 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and a full 16 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. Breaking it down, the Kia Seltos demonstrated strong occupant protection during the frontal impact assessment, with both the driver’s and passenger’s head, neck, and chest rated as ‘good’.

Protection for the thighs and pelvis was also deemed ‘good’ for both occupants. The co-driver’s tibia and the driver’s right tibia were both rated as ‘good’. That said, the left tibia of the driver showed ‘adequate’ protection. In addition, the foot protection for the driver was also deemed ‘adequate’. In side impact evaluations, including the deformable barrier and pole tests, the updated Seltos delivered ‘good’ protection across all important body parts.
In child occupant protection tests, the Kia car attained a dynamic score of 24 out of 24, with a full 12 out of 12 for CRS installation. The overall vehicle assessment score stood at 9 out of 13. For testing, Joie i-Spin 360 seats were used for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies, mounted in a rearward-facing position using ISOFIX and a support leg, which helped secure full points in both front and side impact protection.
