Kia Syros Gets 5-star Crash Test Safety Rating from Bharat NCAP: Watch Video

The Kia Syros has earned 30.21 out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 44.42 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection. The SUV comes with a robust safety suite, including six airbags, ABS, tyre pressure monitoring, traction control, and hill start assist.

The Syros is the first made-in-India Kia to earn a 5-star safety to earn a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, with scores of 30.21 for adult and 44.42 for child occupant protection. Bharat NCAP tested the top and mid variants (HTX+ AT and HTK (O) MT) of the Syros, but it confirmed that the flawless ratings are valid across all models. Priced between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 17 lakh, the Kia Syros SUV comes equipped with a range of safety features, including front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, ABS, tyre pressure monitoring, traction control, hill start assist, and electronic stability control. Kia Syros: Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) Rating Explained

In Bharat NCAP's frontal crash test, the Kia Syros earned 14.21 out of 16 points. The driver's chest and lower legs had adequate safety, but all other body regions showed good protection. The front passenger saw adequate protection for the right tibia and good protection for the remaining areas.

The Syros delivered top-tier performance in the side movable barrier test, with a full 16/16 score. However, it showed satisfactory performance in the side pole test.

Kia Syros: Child Occupant Protection (COP) Rating Explained

During the child occupant safety assessment, the Kia Syros scored 44.42 out of 49. The detailed breakdown comprises 23.42 out of 24 for dynamic testing, a perfect 12 out of 12 for child restraint system (CRS) installation, and 9 out of 13 for vehicle-based safety features.

Testing involved 18 months and 3-year-old child dummies.

Kia Syros: Powertrain

The Kia SUV can be had with two engine options: a 118bhp/172Nm 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (7-speed DCT optional) and a 114bhp/250Nm 1.5-litre diesel (6-speed torque converter optional). A 6-speed manual is standard on both.
