Lexus TZ has entered the growing three-row electric SUV segment as the brand's first full-size EV with three-row seating. Positioned above the RZ in Lexus' electric line-up, the TZ has been developed with a strong focus on comfort, cabin refinement and long-distance usability. The SUV is also expected to become the luxury counterpart to the electric Toyota Highlander sold in the US market.

Lexus says the larger 95.8kWh battery pack can deliver up to 530km of WLTP-claimed range.
The Lexus TZ gets a more upright and traditional SUV shape compared to the smaller RZ. Up front, the SUV features a closed grille section with an illuminated Lexus logo, slim C-shaped LED headlamps and L-shaped daytime running lights. Flush door handles, clean body panels and aerodynamic alloy wheels of up to 22 inches give the TZ a modern look without appearing futuristic.

At the rear, the SUV gets a full-width LED light bar with illuminated Lexus lettering and large wheel arches that add a distinct character to the profile. Lexus says the TZ achieves a drag coefficient of 0.27 thanks to its smooth surfacing and aerodynamic detailing. The SUV rides on a 3,050mm wheelbase and will be offered in 11 exterior colours, including a new Sonic Tellus green shade.
Inside, the Lexus TZ focuses heavily on passenger comfort and practicality. The cabin gets a three-row layout, panoramic sunroof, digital driver's display and a large touchscreen infotainment system. Depending on the market, buyers will also get a twin-screen dashboard setup. Lexus has used sustainable materials inside the cabin as well, including Forged Bamboo trim and bio-based UltraSuede upholstery materials.

The second-row captain seats come with heating, ventilation and ottoman extensions, making long journeys more comfortable. Other features include a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera and the Lexus Safety System+ driver assistance package. Both the second and third-row seats can fold electrically, freeing up to 2,017 litres of cargo space.
The Lexus TZ will be available with two battery pack options, comprising a 76.96kWh unit and a larger 95.8kWh battery. Dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions produce up to 404bhp and can sprint from 0-100kph in 5.4 seconds. Lexus has also equipped the SUV with its DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system for improved stability and torque distribution.

Charging support includes up to 22kW AC charging and 150kW DC fast charging. Lexus claims the battery can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in around 35 minutes under ideal conditions. The brand has not yet confirmed pricing or launch timelines for the new TZ electric SUV.
