Limited-run Audi Sport Performance Parts R8 unleashed

A total of 44 units of the Audi Sport Performance Parts R8 will be produced. The special edition is not yet confirmed to arrive in India.  

Audi has revealed a new special edition, limited-run variant of its flagship R8 sports car, christened Sport Performance Parts R8. The new variant is based on the R8 V10 Plus and adds additional elements like aerodynamic enhancements and aesthetic upgrades to it.

The most prominent change on the new variant comes in the form of aero tweaks, which grant a raw and hardcore look to the sports car. All these aero enhancers are finished in bare carbon fibre. There’s a deep front splitter and tweaked air intakes, side skirts and a rear diffuser. Then, a massive fixed wing at the rear helps increase downforce.

Fully milled multi-spoke black 20-inch wheels save up to 8 kilos. They are shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres with a 245/30 profile up front and 305/30 profile at the rear. A lightweight three-way coilover suspension setup is also fitted for full adjustability on the road and track. Ceramic brake discs fitted to the front and rear feature a titanium backing plate to further reduce the vehicle’s weight.

Inside, the Audi Sport Performance Parts R8 flaunts an exclusive Sport contour steering wheel trimmed in Alcantara with a red marker. Features such as the Audi Smartphone Interface, a rear-view camera and sport exhaust are also added to the lengthy equipment list that already includes R8 bucket seats in perforated Fine Nappa leather, MMI Navigation, Audi connect online services and the fully digital Audi Virtual Cockpit.

The new special edition R8 draws its firepower from the very same motor as the R8 V10 Plus. Therefore, a 5.2-litre atmospheric unit that makes 602bhp and 560Nm feeds power to all four wheels of the sports car through Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system.
