The locally produced GLC too is based on the C-Class platform and will continue to come with the same petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol GLC is powered by a 2.0-litre unit that makes 245bhp and 370Nm of torque. The diesel on the other hand makes 168bhp and 400Nm from a 2.2-litre mill. Boy these engines Come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

With regards to features, the locally made GLC will come equally equipped including a 360 degree camera, power assisted tail gate, dual zone climate control, electronic adjustable front seats with memory function, leather upholstery and more. In terms of safety, the GLC comes with seven airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist and Electronic Stability Program.

Mercedes-Benz now offers an optional service package for the GLC which will cost buyers Rs. 63,000 for the diesel and the Rs. 78,000 for the petrol version.

In the Indian market, the GLC locks horns with the likes of the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and the Range Rover Evoque. Local production of the GLC should give Mercedes an edge over the rest in terms of price.
