Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e Charging Policy Revised; Check Details Here

Mahindra has introduced a significant update to its EV charging policy, offering BE 6 and XEV 9e buyers greater flexibility in selecting and installing chargers. Previously, customers were required to separately purchase a 7.2kW charger for Rs 50,000 or an 11.2kW charger for Rs 75,000, as these were not included in the vehicle’s base price. Under the revised guidelines, purchasing and installing a charger is now optional under specific circumstances. Mahindra implemented this policy in response to customer feedback, introducing the change following strong demand for the BE 6 and XEV 9e e-SUVs. This policy shift provides customers with greater control, cost savings, and convenience, ensuring a more adaptable approach to EV charging.

Key Changes in Mahindra’s Charging Policy

- Customers no longer need to purchase Mahindra’s certified chargers or use the company’s installation services unless they choose to.

- While Mahindra advises using its certified chargers for optimal safety and performance, third-party alternatives are now permitted in certain cases.

- Buyers who lack the infrastructure to install a charger at their home or workplace are exempt from mandatory installation.

- If an existing charger meets Mahindra’s safety standards, customers are not obligated to buy a new one when purchasing the vehicle.

- Owners of multiple Mahindra electric SUVs can now share a single charger, eliminating the need for various installations.

Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9e: Specifications

Mahindra’s BE 6 is available in five trims, with prices spanning from Rs 18.90 lakh to Rs 26.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with a choice of two battery packs – a 59kWh unit and a 79kWh unit, both featuring Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology. The 59kWh battery generates 228bhp, while the larger 79kWh pack boosts output to 281bhp, with both versions delivering 380Nm of torque. This model is equipped with a rear-wheel-drive system, and the high-performance variant can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.7 seconds. Regarding driving range, the 79kWh battery offers an ARAI-certified 682 km, whereas the 59kWh version provides 535 km/charge.

The XEV 9e, offered in four variants, shares the same battery configurations as the BE 6 and utilises a single-motor setup. The model’s ex-showroom pricing begins at Rs 21.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 30.50 lakh for the top-tier version. The 59kWh battery produces 228bhp, while the 79kWh unit delivers 282bhp. The larger battery pack enables the XEV 9e to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 6.8 seconds. When it comes to range, the 59kWh battery provides 557 km, whereas the 79kWh pack extends the driving range to 656 km.
