Mahindra has begun public road testing of the upcoming BE.07 electric SUV in India, and recent spy shots confirm that the model is moving closer to production. The camouflaged test mule spotted on Indian roads signals that development of the brand’s Born Electric line-up is progressing steadily. The BE.07 becomes the fourth model from this EV family to be seen in testing after the BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S. This sighting indicates that Mahindra is expanding its electric SUV portfolio step by step.

The BE.07 will sit in the mid-size electric SUV segment and play an important role in the company’s future EV plans. With testing now underway in real-world conditions, the prototype offers a closer look at what Mahindra is preparing for its next electric SUV.

The prototype seen during testing carries a design that remains close to the concept version first revealed in 2022. The SUV features an upright front fascia along with vertically stacked LED daytime running lights. A flat roofline shapes the overall silhouette, while design details such as flush-fitting door handles and large aero-optimised alloy wheels are visible on the test vehicle.

One noticeable change is the use of conventional wing mirrors instead of the camera-based units that appeared on the original concept. The platform allows a flat floor layout and creates space for a five-seat cabin. Within Mahindra’s electric SUV portfolio, the BE.07 will be positioned between the BE 6 and the upcoming BE.09.
Although the spy images do not reveal the full interior, the SUV is expected to feature a triple-screen dashboard layout. This setup will likely include a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment display and an additional screen for the front passenger. Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display and a redesigned centre console designed for a more traditional SUV layout.

Powertrain options are expected to include two battery packs, a 60kWh unit and a larger 80kWh pack. Both are likely to support 175kW fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 5 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes.
The BE.07 will be offered in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, with the driving range expected to exceed 450 kilometres. Mahindra plans to launch the BE.07 in 2027, with prices estimated between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh.
