Mahindra Thar Roxx Deliveries Commence in India, Prices Start at Rs 12.99 Lakh

Mahindra has finally commenced deliveries of the Thar Roxx in India. This new variant of the popular off-roader features a rugged design and improved specifications aimed at adventure enthusiasts. The price of the 5-door Thar starts at Rs 12.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 22.49 lakh. Both mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures. For the uninitiated, the model recently accomplished a significant milestone by garnering more than 1.76 lakh reservations within 60 minutes of the opening of the booking window. Mahindra has assured customers that it will provide tentative delivery timelines in phases over the next three weeks. As deliveries begin nationwide, the Thar Roxx is set to bolster the homegrown carmaker's presence in the competitive off-road vehicle segment.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain Options

Mechanically, the off-roader features two engine options: a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed torque converter automatic. While the petrol variants are exclusively available with rear-wheel drive, the diesel model provides the added choice of a 4x4 drivetrain, which includes a low-range transfer case for enhanced off-road capabilities.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Variants and Design

Customers can choose from seven exterior paint jobs: Stealth Black, Tango Red, Everest White, Deep Forest, Nebula Blue, Battleship Grey, and Burnt Sienna. All shades are paired with a black roof. As for the variants, there are six broad trim levels: MX1, MX3, AX3 L, MX5, AX5 L, and AX7. The 4WD setup is available exclusively on the MX5, AX5L, and AX7L trims, with automatic 4WD being limited to the AX5L and AX7L variants.

The refreshed Thar maintains its iconic boxy silhouette while adding several unique features, such as LED headlights paired with C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) and a body-coloured six-slat grille. It also includes robust bumpers, rear door-mounted handles, 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a spare tyre mounted on the tailgate, circular fog lights, and rectangular LED taillights.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Interior and Safety Features

The interior is adorned in two theme options: the classic Ivory and a new dark Mocha Brown. The deliveries for the latter will start in January next year. Features-wise, the Thar boasts ventilated seats with leatherette upholstery, a fully digital instrument cluster, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat.

Moving on to the safety suite, the new Mahindra Thar comes equipped with six airbags, hill ascent and descent control, electronic stability control (ESC), and a 360-degree camera. The ADAS package offers features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Market Rivalry

The off-roader is priced from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh for the RWD variants, whereas the 4WD variant ranges from Rs 18.79 lakh to Rs 22.49 lakh. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom. It competes with the Force Gurkha 5-door and Maruti Suzuki Jimny. In terms of pricing, it can also be compared to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
