Mahindra has expanded its electric portfolio in India, which already includes the XUV400, BE 6, and XEV 9e, with the launch of the XEV 9S. The new EV is based on the carmaker’s proven INGLO platform, and has a starting price of Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base-spec Pack One Above variant with the 59kWh battery option. Its design looks striking and is inspired by the XEV 9e, with elements like the illuminated Mahindra logo and L-shaped connected LED DRLs.
There is also some resemblance to its ICE-powered sibling, the XUV700. The XEV 9S measures 4,737mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,745mm in height. It comes in multiple variants, spread across 59kWh, 70kWh, and 79kWh battery options. Mahindra has announced that test drives for the XEV 9S will begin on January 5, 2026. Bookings for the SUV will open on January 14, and customers can reserve their vehicle either online or at Mahindra dealerships.

Deliveries of the three-row electric SUV are scheduled to start from January 23.
The Mahindra XEV 9S is offered with three battery pack options (59kWh, 70kWh, and 79kWh), varying depending on the variant selected. The smaller 59kWh battery produces 228bhp, and enables a claimed MIDC range of 521 kilometres.
The 70kWh battery delivers 241bhp and a claimed range of 600 kilometres. The larger 79kWh battery generates 282bhp, and offers a claimed range of 679 kilometres. The torque remains the same across all battery packs at 380Nm. The 0-100km/h acceleration time is 7 seconds, while the top speed stands at 202km/h.
All three battery options of the XEV 9S support fast charging. They can reach 20–80% in only 20 minutes, with capacities ranging from 140 kW to 180 kW. For overnight charging at home, a 7.2 kW charger takes 8.7 to 11.7 hours for a full charge, while a faster 11 kW charger reduces the time to just 6–8 hours.

Prominent highlights include a trio of 12.3-inch displays, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof, up to seven airbags, a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor, ESC, TPMS, all-wheel disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts, and Level 2 ADAS.
