Indian car enthusiasts have a new reason to watch the calendar, as Mahindra prepares to unveil the Mahindra XUV 7XO on 5 January 2026. Positioned as the comprehensive facelift of the XUV700, this SUV adopts the new 'XO' nomenclature. Over the past few weeks, Mahindra has released multiple teasers, making it clear that the XUV 7XO is a major evolution of its popular SUV.

With pre-bookings already open for a token amount of Rs 21,000, interest is surging for what many expect to be the new benchmark in the premium SUV segment.
On the outside, the XUV 7XO introduces visible changes inspired by Mahindra’s 'Born Electric' design language. Teasers point to a refreshed front end with C-shaped LED DRLs and a reworked grille featuring vertical chrome accents.

The rear lighting signature has also been overhauled, now featuring inverted L-shaped LED elements connected by a full-width light bar, similar to the recently launched XEV 9S. These updates give the SUV a cleaner, more futuristic road presence while maintaining the familiar XUV proportions.
The biggest talking point is the cabin, particularly in the rumoured new top-end AX9L variant. Mahindra has confirmed a massive triple-screen dashboard layout, which includes a digital driver display, a central 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a dedicated 12.3-inch passenger display. This setup runs on the updated Adrenox+ software, offering an 'in-car theatre' mode and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) support.

Safety and convenience see a massive boost with the introduction of a 540-degree camera system, providing a 'see-through' view of the terrain beneath the car. Inside, teasers suggest a premium black and tan interior theme, a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Rear passengers benefit from Powered Boss Mode, allowing them to electrically adjust the front passenger seat for extra legroom, alongside new rear ventilated seats.
Mechanically, the XUV 7XO is expected to continue with its proven powertrain lineup. This includes the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Both motors will be available with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
