Mahindra XUV500 gets Apple CarPlay connectivity

The XUV500 now offers both Apple CarPlay & Android Auto; update applies only to W11 and upward variants.

After introducing it on the Marazzo & the new-entrant XUV300, Mahindra has now added Apple CarPlay connectivity to its acclaimed SUV, the XUV500. With the update, the XUV500 now offers both Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. However, the update is only available on W11 & higher variants (which include W11 AT, W11 (O), W11 (O) AT & W11 (O) AT). The XUV500 W11 is priced at ₹ 17.09 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). To keep things fair though, existing owners of the XUV500 can also benefit by getting a software update done through any authorised Mahindra workshop.

Sharing his thoughts on the update rollout, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing (Automotive Division) at Mahindra & Mahindra said, 'At Mahindra, our vehicles offer consumers accessible technologies. The introduction of Apple CarPlay enhances the convenience & connectivity offered by the XUV500 and will generate a lot of interest among our potential customers. To delight our customers, we will provide this update to existing owners of the W11 variant as well. They can visit a Mahindra authorised workshop to get their infotainment system upgraded with Apple CarPlay.'

The latest update only strengthens the feature offerings of the XUV500 as it also comes with other connectivity features like Connected Apps, Emergency Call & EcoSense. Recently, Mahindra had also expanded the XUV500's variant line-up with the introduction of a new, entry-level W3 variant. The new base variant dropped the XUV500's entry price point by about ₹ 58,000. In June 2019, Mahindra emerged as the third-highest car seller, shifting 17,762 units. Of these, 1,129 units belonged to the XUV500. Behind the evergreen Bolero, the XUV300 put up a strong show as the second-highest selling Mahindra model for the month, with 4,769 units sold.
