Maruti Suzuki has launched the e Vitara in India, with prices starting at Rs 10.99 lakh under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, where buyers are required to pay a battery rental fee of Rs 3.99 per kilometre. Alternatively, the brand’s first-ever EV can be purchased at a starting price of Rs 15.99 lakh, which includes the battery cost. The company has opened bookings both online and at Nexa dealerships, with a reservation amount of Rs 21,000. In its Delta guise, the SUV runs on a 49kWh battery that promises up to 440 kilometres of range on a single charge. The electric motor churns out 142bhp and 193Nm. Charging at home using a 7.4kW AC unit takes about 6.5 hours, while a DC fast charger can juice it up in around 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, buyers who opt for the Zeta or Alpha variants get a bigger 61kWh battery pack with a claimed range of up to 543 kilometres. These trims also produce 172bhp, although torque stays the same at 193Nm. AC charging takes approximately 9 hours, and DC fast charging continues to take about 45 minutes.
The e Vitara is available at Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 20.01 lakh with the battery included. Alternatively, customers can choose the BaaS option, which lowers the ex-showroom price but adds a per-kilometre battery rental fee. Under this model, the Delta comes at a price of Rs 10.99 lakh with a Rs 3.99/km charge. The Zeta and Alpha start at Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 14.29 lakh, respectively, both subject to a Rs 4.39/km fee. The Alpha Dual-Tone is priced at Rs 14.51 lakh, with a battery usage charge of Rs 4.39 per km.
