Maruti Suzuki launches face-lifted Alto 800, Prices start at Rs. 2.49 Lakh

Maruti Suzuki refreshes its bestselling Alto 800 with cosmetic and mechanical updates. The car will now be offered with more features. Prices for the updated Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 range between Rs. 2.49 lakh to Rs. 3.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki has introduced a face-lifted version of the Alto 800 ahead of the launch of the next big 800cc car, the RediGO from Datsun, which is due for launch in the first week of June. The refreshed Alto 800 features a revised front bumper with a sleek single slat front grille and a wider than ever before airdam in the front bumper. The new bumper has increased the length of the car by 35mm. The Alto 800 also now for the first time gets front fog lamps. Maruti is also offering the left side ORVM as standard now. The car also gets new tail lamps. Completing the exterior face-lift are two new colour choices, namely – Mojito Green and Cerulean Blue.

Maruti has also given the interiors of the car a once over which gives it new seat upholstery, fabric inserts for the door trim along with a new dark grey interior colour theme. The front passenger now gets a map pocket on the door pad and there is a rear bottle holder in the centre console. The rear seats get integrated head rest. Higher end variants also get child locks for rear doors.  For the first time, the Alto 800 will be offered with remote keyless central locking in higher spec variants. The car also gets a single-DIN stereo now.

Maruti Suzuki has also tinkered with the car’s 800cc petrol engine to fit specially coated piston and ring set to reduce frictional losses. This combined with better torque delivery at lower RPMs has improved the updated model’s fuel efficiency by as much as 9 per cent from 22.74 km/l to 24.7 km/l. The other mechanical update is a new brake booster for more rapid deceleration.
