Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the Victoris in India, and the new mid-size Arena SUV comes with several key differences compared to its 5-seater compact-yet-premium sibling from Nexa, the Grand Vitara. While both SUVs share the same platform and mechanicals, they’re positioned quite differently and are likely to appeal to different types of buyers. Design, features, interior finishes, and pricing all vary, giving each model its own unique identity. We compare the newly launched Victoris with the Grand Vitara to help you choose the right SUV for your needs.

While the Victoris looks a bit more modern and aggressive, the Grand Vitara has a classic and premium appeal. From the front, the Victoris gives off strong e Vitara vibes. The sharp, sleek LED headlamps with daytime running lights are flanked by neatly positioned fog lamps and air ducts that not only add visual appeal but also aid in improving aerodynamics.

In contrast, the Grand Vitara boasts a larger and more prominent chrome grille, signature tri-unit LED DRLs on the hood's edge, and split headlamps. The Victoris has a large Suzuki logo at the front, beneath which sit the front camera and ADAS sensors. It rolls on 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and comes with connected LED taillamps and variant-specific badging (Hybrid/CNG).

On the other hand, the Grand Vitara has a taillamp arrangement connected by a light bar (a common design seen on many Nexa models). The SUV also comes equipped with 17-inch wheels.

The Victori̇s is slightly longer and taller than its Nexa counterpart. However, its width and wheelbase remain the same. A key practical advantage lies in the Arena SUV's CNG tank placement, which is mounted underneath the vehicle. Meanwhile, the Grand Vitara’s CNG tank is placed inside the boot.

Inside, the Victoris mid-size SUV boasts a dual-tone finish, while the Grand Vitara sports an all-black theme with bronze highlights. It stands out with an 8-speaker Infinity sound system with subwoofer, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.

As for safety, the newly launched Victoris holds an edge with a Level-2 ADAS. The common safety features are six airbags (standard), electronic stability programme (ESP), front and rear parking sensors, traction control system, and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
The Victoris and the Grand Vitara are similar in terms of the powertrain. Both offer a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid, strong hybrid, and CNG option. The mild-hybrid setup produces 102bhp and 137Nm. Meanwhile, the strong-hybrid unit delivers 114.4bhp and 141Nm. The CNG variant churns out 87bhp and 121.5Nm. Transmission options include e-CVT, 5-speed MT, and 6-speed AT.
