Maruti Suzuki has added a swivel seat option to the WagonR, giving the popular hatchback a feature that solves a real daily problem. Offered as a retrofit kit, the system fits onto the front row and rotates it outward by 90 degrees, making entry and exit easier. Think of it as the WagonR politely turning its seat towards you instead of asking you to squeeze in. Installation takes about 45 to 60 minutes at authorised Arena dealerships and does not involve cutting panels or stripping the interior. The kit mounts onto existing floor points, keeping things neat and factory-friendly.

WagonR models manufactured from February 2019 onwards are eligible for the upgrade. The swivel seat integrates with the existing electrical setup and does not require changes to the dashboard or wiring layout. Maruti Suzuki has opened bookings at select outlets, making this an accessible add-on rather than a complex modification.
The feature is aimed at senior citizens and users with mobility concerns, but it also suits anyone who values comfort over acrobatics. The WagonR’s tall cabin helps here, offering enough space for the seat to rotate smoothly. At the press of a single switch, the seat slides forward by up to 280 mm and lowers by 120 mm to match ground level. Once you are seated, the system brings the seat back into driving position and locks it automatically. No drama, no guesswork, just click and drive.

The swivel seat kit comes from Bengaluru-based TRUEAssist Technology, a startup incubated through Maruti Suzuki’s programme with NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore. Testing support came from the Automotive Research Association of India, and the system carries safety certification along with a three-year warranty. Original seat covers stay in place, so the cabin still looks like a WagonR, not a science project.
