Mercedes-Benz brought in the new GLE earlier this year in January, now, they are all set to bring in the more powerful and stylish AMG GLE 53 Coupe. The performance SUV will be launched in India on 23rd September.
When launched, it will be the first AMG in India to feature the mild-hybrid tech. Powered by a 3.0-litre turbo petrol motor that works in conjunction with a 48V mild-hybrid system, the GLE 53 produces 435bhp and 520Nm. The mild-hybrid system adds another 22 horses and 250Nm. All of this allows the GLE 53 to dismiss the 0-100km/h dash in just 5.3 seconds. The engine comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels with Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
On the design front, the GLE 53, much like some other new AMGs, sports a vertical slat grille upfront. The front and rear windscreens are raked out in keeping with the coupe styling. While the GLE comes with 19-inch wheels, this AMG-spec iteration gets 20-inch rims as standard and may also get 21-inch ones as part of the options pack. On the inside, the GLE 53 will boast typically AMG touches like sports seats, Nappa leather upholstery and also some carbon fibre touches.
Expect the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe to be priced around the Rs 1.3 crore mark which puts it right against the Porsche Cayenne Coupe and the Audi Q8.
