Mercedes-AMG has released a teaser for its upcoming GT Track Sport Concept, offering a glimpse of a more focused and aggressive version of the second-generation AMG GT coupe. Though still in camouflage, the prototype reveals several race-oriented upgrades such as a large swan-neck rear wing, prominent front splitter, deep diffuser, fender vents, and NACA ducts, all pointing to enhanced downforce and cooling. Powering the concept will be a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, expected to produce anywhere from 469 hp to over 600 hp, with possible hybrid assistance for higher outputs. Developed to compete with models like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the GT Track Sport Concept is being positioned as a high-performance machine designed for serious track use.
Mercedes-AMG has previewed a new chapter in its GT lineage with the teaser of the Track Sport Concept, a machine that signals the brand is not done evolving its performance portfolio just yet. While still officially a concept, it clearly hints at either a sharper, more focused variant of the current 2+2 AMG GT coupe or perhaps an entirely new entrant in the lineup.

Purpose-built for the racetrack, the Track Sport Concept is engineered to deliver peak performance and high-speed precision, with Mercedes openly alluding to its record-setting potential, possibly even a Nurburgring run on the horizon.

In the past, the first-generation AMG GT saw numerous escalating variants, from the balanced GT S and the aggressive GT R to the extreme GT Black Series. Continuing that legacy, the new concept will use AMG’s renowned twin-turbo V8, though power figures have yet to be confirmed. The current GT family spans from the 463bhp GT 55 to the 794bhp plug-in hybrid GT 63 S E-Performance, so the Track Sport could either nestle within that range or exceed it entirely.

Given that the AMG GT already competes with various Porsche 911 trims, a production version of the Track Sport would be well-positioned as a direct rival to the 911 GT3. With a V8 engine at its core, the concept remains anchored in AMG’s traditional performance ethos, suggesting this is not an all-electric or hybrid-exclusive effort, even if mild electrification remains a possibility.
