Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will introduce a more affordable CLA 200 ‘Standard Range’ variant to the lineup of the yet-to-be-launched Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric. With this, the electric four-door coupe will be available in two variants: the CLA 250+ ‘Long Range’ and the new CLA 200 ‘Standard Range’. Note that the latter has been introduced based on customer feedback. Bookings are now open for both models for a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh, and customers who pre-book them will receive a complimentary wall-box charger. Deliveries are slated to begin from the end of April 2026 for the CLA 250+, while the CLA 200 Standard Range will start reaching customers from June 2026. Read on to know more.

The new version will sit alongside the CLA 250+ ‘Long Range’ in the lineup, giving buyers an additional option based on their requirements in terms of range, performance, and styling. Unlike the top-spec CLA 250+, which comes equipped with the sportier AMG Line styling package, the newly added CLA 200 features the Progressive Line styling, which includes comfort seats, a multifunction sports leather steering wheel, and two interior trim options. That said, the equipment and feature list will remain largely similar across both variants.

The CLA Electric 250+ comes equipped with an 85.5kWh lithium-ion battery paired with an 800V electrical architecture, which delivers a peak output of 268bhp. The setup allows the electric sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds, while offering a claimed driving range of up to 792 kilometres. The model also focuses on efficiency, thanks to its aerodynamically optimised design and a drivetrain efficiency of around 93 percent, resulting in an energy consumption figure of approximately 12 kWh per 100 km. In addition, the variant features a two-speed transmission and supports DC fast charging of up to 240 kW, which can add roughly 400 km of range in just 20 minutes under ideal conditions.
The new CLA 200 model also benefits from an 800-volt electrical architecture, but it offers a claimed range of 542 kilometres. Using a 240 kW DC fast charger, the CLA 200 Standard Range can gain approximately 320 km of range in 20 mins.
Mercedes-Benz has indicated that the CLA 200 ‘Standard Range’ could carry a tentative ex-showroom price of around Rs 55 lakh, while the CLA 250+ ‘Long Range’ is expected to be priced at approximately Rs 59 lakh. The automaker highlighted that the final pricing may vary depending on foreign exchange rates at the time of the official launch, which is scheduled for mid-April 2026.
Deliveries for the two variants will take place in phases. The CLA 250+ Long Range is expected to begin reaching customers from the end of April 2026, while the CLA 200 Standard Range will follow from June 2026.
