Mercedes-Benz has added a sportier variant to its flagship GLS lineup in India with the launch of the AMG Line, priced at Rs 1.40 crore for the GLS 450 and Rs 1.43 crore for the GLS 450d. Both prices are ex-showroom. This version brings aggressive styling updates inspired by AMG, including reworked bumpers, larger front air intakes, and body-coloured wheel arch mouldings. The interior continues the theme with AMG-branded floor mats, a specially designed steering wheel, and stainless steel pedals. A 3.0-litre inline-six engine powers both petrol and diesel variants, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, blending high-end comfort with a sport-focused design and driving experience.
The GLS 4MATIC AMG Line adopts a sportier and more commanding personality, blending luxury with performance-inspired aesthetics. Borrowing design language from the G-Class and AMG performance division, this version receives bold styling enhancements such as extended fender flares, a reprofiled AMG front bumper, pronounced side sills, and sculpted air intakes, decked up in body colour. At the back, an AMG-style bumper integrates chrome accents and darkened trim.

Coming to the mechanical setup, the GLS 450 AMG Line is powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged petrol engine that develops 375bhp and 500Nm of torque. The diesel variant, the GLS 450d, features the same engine configuration tuned to deliver 362bhp and a hefty 750Nm. Both versions come paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and feature all-wheel drive. Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h takes just 6.1 seconds, while top speed is electronically capped at 250km/h.
Stepping inside, AMG influences are evident in the design and materials. The cabin features a sporty, flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in premium Nappa leather with chrome inserts, accompanied by touch controls and gearshift paddles. AMG-branded floor mats and brushed metal pedals with rubber grips further enhance the layout.

The AMG Night Package adds visual drama with blacked-out exterior highlights such as gloss-black mirror caps, dark chrome grille elements, matte roof rails, and high-gloss body trim. These are complemented by striking 21-inch AMG alloy wheels, giving a powerful edge to the SUV.
Meanwhile, in terms of market performance, Mercedes-Benz India registered record-breaking Q1 sales for FY2025-26, retailing 4,238 units between April and June, a 10 per cent increase year-on-year. This momentum was driven by rising demand in the high-end luxury segment and a sharp uptick in EV adoption.
