At the 2019 Auto Guangzhou motor show in China, Mercedes will unveil the super luxurious Maybach GLS. Expect minor changes to the exterior design and a more opulent cabin
Mercedes-Benz’s flagship SUV, the GLS is all set to get an enhanced dose of luxury. The company will take the wraps off the Maybach GLS on 21st November. While the exterior design of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS may not be a departure from the standard SUV, on the inside it will surely flaunt a more well-appointed cabin.
Design-wise expect the Maybach GLS to be inspired from one of the concepts. Changes from the standard model may be reflected in the front grille, headlight, taillights, and some chrome bits all around. There may be a unique design for the alloy wheels too. On the inside, the Maybach GLS is expected to be super luxurious and will offer best-in-class space. Unlike the standard GLS which offers a 7-seat layout, the Maybach may be offered with individual four seats or with the option of a five-seat layout.
Engine options may include a 6.0-litre V12 twin-turbo or a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo – both of which will be petrol powered. Both SUVs with come with a 9-speed automatic transmission and get all-wheel drive as standard. The Maybach GLS will get Air Body Control suspension as standard too.
Subsequent to the global unveil on 21st November, Mercedes is expected to launch on globally in the first half of 2020. While there is no official confirmation about its India launch as yet. If it does make its way to India, it will probably be in the second or third quarter of 2020. When launched, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS will compete against the Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls Royce Cullinan.
