With its 2.0 strategy, MG Motor India is stepping up its efforts to capture a significant domestic market share. The British manufacturer seems poised to introduce its third electric vehicle, the Cloud EV, later this year as part of this ambitious expansion in the country. Besides, MG is expected to launch the facelifted Gloster in India soon, as indicated by several recent spy shots. The upcoming iteration of the Gloster will be a rebadged variant of the globally updated LDV D90/Maxus D90. As part of the revamp, the model will feature considerable design modifications as well as modest interior enhancements. Read on to learn more.

MG Gloster Facelift: Design

On the design front, the new Gloster has a new fascia with a large three-slat grille that carries the brand logo. The headlamps are also updated with a cube-shaped split headlamp system, and the LED DRLs extend seamlessly into the grille, adding character to the front profile.

The alloy wheels on the recently spotted test mule's side profile appear to be taken from the current-generation model. However, the redesigned Gloster is expected to arrive with a new alloy wheel design. The rear end of the SUV has revised LED taillamps, connected by a sleek light bar. This arrangement lends the car a modern and streamlined appearance.

MG Gloster Facelift: Engine Specs

The new Gloster's engine will probably be the same as the current one. It will have a 2.0-litre turbocharged or twin-turbo diesel unit mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The mill is capable of churning out 478Nm of peak torque and 213bhp of maximum power.

MG Gloster Facelift: Features and Rivals

As far as the cabin is concerned, the 2024 Gloster is anticipated to come equipped with cutting-edge comfort and convenience features such as a digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone connectivity, a large touchscreen infotainment system, and ventilated and powered front seats. Other feature highlights will include a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree surround camera, and a wireless charging pad.

Following the cosmetic and feature updates, the SUV is expected to command a higher price tag in India. The current-generation Gloster is priced at Rs 38.80 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, the model will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian.

MG 2.0 Strategy

The goal of MG Motor's comprehensive 2.0 strategy is to increase its market share in India for electric vehicles. With well-known models like the ZS EV and Comet EV, MG Motor, in collaboration with JSW Group, is currently the second-largest producer of electric cars in India, behind Tata Motors. By taking on rivals and striving for major market expansion, this joint venture intends to dramatically increase the brand's range of electric vehicles.
