India’s EV segment is expanding rapidly, with several new models entering the market, including the Tata Harrier EV and the soon-to-be-launched Kia Carens Clavis EV. The arrival of these models highlights a rising preference for green mobility solutions among Indian consumers. It also reflects the increasing focus of automakers on offering sustainable mobility options to meet evolving market demands. In this dynamic market scenario, the MG Windsor EV has emerged as the best-selling electric car in FY2025. The MG EV, launched in September last year, has outpaced popular models such as the Tata Punch EV, Tiago EV, and Nexon EV to become the top choice for EV buyers across the country. Let’s take a closer look at the top 5 best-selling EVs in FY2025.

MG Windsor EV

The Windsor EV from MG's stable became the highest-selling electric in the country last month, with 19,394 units. Notably, the SUV earned the Green Car of the Year title at the most recent edition of the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) awards. It recently gained a Pro variant with a larger battery pack and a longer range.

At the heart of the MG Windsor EV is an IP67-rated 38kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which enables a certified range of up to 332 kilometres on a single charge. The permanent magnet synchronous motor produces 134bhp and 220Nm of torque. The battery also supports 45kW DC fast charging, allowing for a full recharge in just 55 minutes. Under the BaaS model, the price of the EV starts at Rs 9.99 lakh, while with battery cost included, the price stands at Rs 14 lakh. These are starting and ex-showroom figures.

Tata Punch EV

After holding the crown as India’s best-selling EV in FY2024, the Tata Punch EV has now been overtaken by the MG Windsor EV in FY2025. It sold 17,966 units in the fiscal year, reaching the second position among the intensified competition. The electric Punch starts at Rs 9.99 lakh  (ex-showroom), and is available in two battery configurations: a 25kWh pack and a larger 35kWh pack. The car comes with flexible charging options, ranging from a standard  3.3kW AC charger to a 7.2kW AC unit and a DC fast charger.

Tata Tiago EV

The Tata Tiago EV clinched the title of India’s third-best-selling EV in FY2025, with 17,145 units sold. It edged out several well-known competitors, including the MG ZS EV, cementing its position as a strong contender in the compact EV segment. Earlier this year, Tata gave the Tiago EV a fresh boost with its Model Year 2025 (MY25) update.

The Tata Tiago EV offers two battery pack options: a 19.2kWh unit for the Medium-Range variant and a 24kWh unit for the Long-Range version. Both variants are powered by a single electric motor. The Medium Range model offers 60bhp and 110Nm, while the Long-Range delivers 74bhp and 114Nm. The smaller battery offers a range of 223 kilometres, whereas the larger pack delivers a range of 293 kilometres.
