Ford will globally unveil an EcoSport facelift on November 14.

The Ford EcoSport which was well received in the Indian market is set for an update next year. As the compact SUV is a global car for Ford, the refreshed EcoSport has been spied testing in numerous regions around the world.

The updated car was set to debut at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil, but reports claim that the car was not ready in time. However, the new EcoSport has been reported to make its global appearance in its final production form on November 14. For the first time, Ford will also launch the EcoSport in the North American market as well.

The updates on the car will mostly be significant cosmetic changes. The front of the EcoSport will receive the most changes as the hexagonal front grille has been raised entirely with the Ford badge in the centre with two bold slats that run across the middle, which bring it in line with current Ford SUV international models. The head lamps and tail lamps have been changed and re-profiled. The front bumper is also new with the fog lamps also receiving changes to the design. The alloy wheels also have new 5-spoke design.

When it comes to the interior, the global version of the car will get an all new dashboard, steering wheel and instrument cluster. But the Indian market is reported to only get a touchscreen infotainment screen replacing the 2-din system from the old car.

Mechanically the car will remain the same with the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, Ti-VCT petrol and TDCi diesel engines and the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine. The 6-speed DCT automatic on the petrol model will also be available.

The main rivals for the Ford EcoSport in India are the Mahindra TUV300 and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The updated EcoSport has not yet been confirmed for the Indian market but if it is to be launched, it is expected here no earlier than late 2017.
