Kia has added a new HTE(EX) variant to the Carens Clavis range, with prices starting at Rs 12.55 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variant slots between the HTE(O) and HTK trims in the lineup. It introduces an electric sunroof for the first time on the 1.5-litre NA petrol version. The new Kia Carens Clavis HTE(EX) lower mid-spec variant also packs features such as LED DRLs and position lamps, Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC), LED cabin lighting, and a one-touch auto up/down driver-side window. Design-wise, there are no changes, and the model remains the same. Here's a look at the prices.
| Kia Carens Clavis HTE(EX) | Price (ex-showroom) |
| 1.5-litre Petrol MT | Rs 12.55 lakh |
| 1.5-litre T-GDI Turbo-Petrol MT | Rs 13.42 lakh |
| 1.5-litre Diesel MT | Rs 14.53 lakh |
The Kia Carens Clavis looks bold and unique with its sharply sculpted triple-segment LED headlamps and inverted V-shaped DRLs. There's a slim panel instead of a traditional grille, and black cladding and a silver faux skid plate on the front bumper.
The cladding continues around the wheel arches and lower body at the sides, flanked by chrome door handles, and silver roof rails. The car rides on 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
The rear includes a connected LED taillight bar, a bumper finished in matte cladding, and a silver skid plate.
Kia offers the Carens Clavis with three engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol unit that makes 113bhp of maximum power and 144Nm of peak torque, and is paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. The other is a more potent 1.5-litre turbocharged GDi petrol option that delivers 158bhp and 253Nm, which can be matched with either a six-speed manual, a six-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT), or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT).

Finally, the third engine option is a 1.5-litre turbo diesel unit making 113bhp and 250Nm with a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The Kia Carens Clavis competes against several popular models in the market, including the MG Hector Plus, the Hyundai Creta, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Honda Elevate and the Hyundai Alcazar.
