The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV is one of the biggest reveals from the brand in recent years. The C-Class has always been one of Mercedes-Benz's most important models, but now it has gone fully electric for the first time. Unlike some EVs that are based on petrol car platforms, this one has been developed from scratch as an electric sedan. That means more space inside, better packaging and more advanced tech. It will go on sale in the US first, but this new EV is clearly being positioned as a global model for the future.
The electric C-Class moves away from the upright proportions of the combustion model, adopting a lower, more streamlined body with a sloping roofline that flows into a fastback-style tail. At the front, the car is distinguished by an illuminated grille bearing the Mercedes star, paired with LED headlamps that incorporate star-shaped daytime running light elements. Similar lighting details are already seen on models like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Mercedes-Benz CLA and Mercedes-Benz EQS.

At the rear, the car gets star-shaped tail-lamps and a rounded overall form. Mercedes says the drag coefficient is just 0.22, which should help the car cut through the air more efficiently and improve range.
Inside, the first thing you notice is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen stretching across the dashboard. It gives the cabin a proper concept-car feel, but there is plenty of functionality behind it too. The system runs on Mercedes' new MB.OS software and supports over-the-air updates.

There is also an AI-based voice assistant that uses ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Microsoft Bing for more natural voice interactions. Mercedes has also added features like a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, ventilated and massage seats, and more rear seat space thanks to the longer wheelbase.
The headline numbers are impressive. The top-spec Mercedes-Benz C 400 4MATIC gets a 94kWh battery pack, dual motors and 360kW of power. Mercedes claims a 0-100km/h time of 4.0 seconds and a WLTP range of up to 762km, which puts it right up there with some of the longest-range EVs in its class.

It also gets an 800V electrical setup and a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, with one gear focused on strong acceleration and the other tuned for efficiency at motorway speeds. The front motor can even disconnect during cruising to reduce drag and save energy.

Mercedes has also loaded the electric C-Class with plenty of hardware worth noting. DC fast charging speeds of up to 330kW mean the car can replenish up to 325km of range in just 10 minutes under WLTP conditions. Buyers can also spec features like AIRMATIC suspension, adaptive dampers and rear-wheel steering, which cuts the turning circle down to 11.2 metres.

There is also a 470-litre boot, a 101-litre front trunk and a towing capacity of up to 1.8 tonnes. Mercedes has already confirmed that a rear-wheel-drive version with around 800km of claimed range is on the way as well.
