Mercedes-Benz has taken a big step into the midsize electric SUV market with the unveiling of the all-new Mercedes GLC EV. Built on the dedicated MB.EA platform, this model is designed from the ground up as a pure EV. It replaces the EQE SUV and goes up against key rivals like the BMW iX3, showing Mercedes’ clear focus on expanding its electric range. The exterior of the Mercedes GLC EV brings in a new design identity. The front grille comes with 942 illuminated dots surrounding the iconic Mercedes star, matched by star-shaped running lights and a detailed LED taillight bar.
The SUV also gets a sloping roofline, roof spoiler, and a low drag coefficient of 0.26, while rolling on 20-inch wheels as standard.
Inside, the cabin is dominated by the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, the largest display ever fitted to a Mercedes. Stretching across the dashboard, it merges the driver display, infotainment system, and passenger screen into one seamless panel for a futuristic look. The screen uses matrix LED technology for crisp visuals and adjusts its brightness intelligently depending on conditions.

Mercedes has also reintroduced physical controls on the steering wheel and centre console after customer feedback, striking a balance between modern design and everyday usability. Sustainability has been given attention too, with interiors certified by the Vegan Society, alongside ambient lighting that can be customised to suit the mood.
The technical package is equally impressive. Power comes from a 94kWh battery supported by an 800-volt electrical architecture. Fast-charging capability peaks at 330kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 22 to 24 minutes.

Two powertrain options are available: a rear-wheel-drive model producing 369bhp, and an all-wheel-drive setup offering 484bhp. The AWD version accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210km/h.

Range is another strong point, with up to 735km (WLTP) achievable on a single charge. Efficiency is boosted by advanced regenerative braking and Mercedes’ newly developed “One Box” braking system.
