Mercedes-Benz is set to reintroduce the V-Class to its Indian lineup after discontinuing it in 2022. The luxury people mover will be launched in its facelifted avatar, with prices expected to be above Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). It will directly lock horns with models such as the Lexus LM, the Toyota Vellfire, and the soon-to-be-launched MG M9. The new-generation V-Class was launched in international markets in 2024. Here’s everything you need to know about this luxury people mover.

The new V-Class sheds much of its traditional van-like design in favour of a more sophisticated, car-like appearance. It sports a large, redesigned radiator grille that is more prominent than before, flanked by updated headlights. Other highlights include an upright tailgate with a large glass area and newly designed vertical taillamps.
Depending on the trim level (Premium, Exclusive, or AMG Line), the V-Class gets distinct wheel and bumper designs. Globally, the V-Class is available with either a 3,200mm long wheelbase or an even more stretched 3,430mm extra-long wheelbase. These dimensions translate into exceptional cabin versatility, with seating configurations ranging from an 8-seat layout to a more executive-focused 7-seater, and a flagship 6-seater setup that features twin rows of captain chairs.

Inside, the V-Class boasts the presence of physical buttons and knobs for a user-friendly appeal. It is equipped with dual 12.3-inch screens – one serving as the infotainment display and the other functioning as the digital instrument cluster.
The international-spec V-Class packs a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel motor, offered in two configurations. The 220d version delivers 163hp and 380Nm, while the higher-spec 300d produces 237hp and 500Nm. Power is sent through a 9-speed automatic transmission, and buyers can opt for either a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive layout.

For India, there's no official confirmation on the V-Class's specifications. Mercedes-Benz also offers an electric V-Class, called the EQV in the global market. However, this variant is unlikely to make it to our shores as of now.
