JSW MG Motor India is getting ready to launch its new electric luxury MPV, the MG M9. This EV will be on sale only at MG Select dealerships, which will also be selling the MG Cyberster electric roadster once it is launched. While the MG M9 will be assembled locally at the company’s Halol plant using CKD kits, the Cyberster will arrive in India as a fully imported model. The MG M9 is expected to expand the brand’s electric vehicle portfolio, offering a spacious and feature-rich option for buyers looking for a premium MPV experience.

The MG M9 is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 242bhp and 350Nm of torque. It draws power from a 90kWh battery pack. MG claims a range of over 500km on a full charge, though real-world figures are expected to fall between 400 and 425km.
The MPV supports 160 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. A complete charge using a DC charger takes around 1.5 hours, while the standard 11 kW AC charger requires approximately 10 hours for a full recharge.
Design-wise, the M9 brings together simple elements. It gets LED headlights with DRLs, a wide front grille, and connected taillights at the back. The MPV runs on 19-inch self-sealing tyres and comes with electric sliding doors for easier access.
Inside, the MG M9 features Cognac Brown leather seats with ottoman-style second-row chairs that offer eight massage settings. The armrests are fitted with touchscreen controls, while a three-zone climate control system and a panoramic sunroof further enhance the cabin experience.

The MG M9 currently has no direct electric MPV rival in the Indian market. However, it may be seen as an alternative to the diesel-powered Kia Carnival, which is priced at Rs 63.91 lakh, given the M9’s expected price of around Rs 60 lakh. MG has also confirmed plans to open 14 MG Select showrooms across 13 cities.
