Renault’s larger, three-row version of the next-gen Duster has been spotted on Indian roads for the first time, marking the SUV’s entry into local testing. Possibly named the Renault Boreal or Duster Bigster, this extended variant is built on the third-generation Duster platform that debuted globally in November 2023. To support its seven-seat layout, the model features a visibly longer wheelbase and elongated rear doors. The heavily camouflaged test vehicle, seen undergoing trials in our country, suggests that India-specific development is progressing ahead of an expected 2026 launch. Though design details remain concealed, elements like LED lighting, bold body cladding, and roof rails hint at its rugged character. Once launched, this SUV will likely compete with mid-size three-row offerings like the Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus.
The upcoming SUV features a rugged exterior characterised by heavy-duty styling elements. The design includes large, blocky bumpers and extensive protective cladding along the lower body. Standout visual cues are Y-shaped LED daytime running lights, traditional pull-type front door handles, and rear handles neatly integrated into the B-pillars. The SUV also rides on striking 19-inch alloys, comes fitted with chunky roof rails, and wears a sharply contoured spoiler with elevated edges.
A contrasting black roof over a dual-tone body finish will add to its bold look. Sustainability also plays a role, with Renault using ‘Starkle’ recycled polypropylene, sourced from post-industrial waste, for various exterior components like the cladding, wheel arches, and bumpers.

In terms of proportions, the vehicle is expected to align with the Dacia Bigster’s footprint, measuring around 4,570mm long, 1,810mm wide, and 1,710mm high, along with a 2,700mm wheelbase.
Interior details remain mostly under wraps, though a wide landscape-format touchscreen (likely 10.1 inches) was spotted at the centre. Other expected features include a 7-inch digital instrument display and a flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel.
The global-spec Dacia Bigster offers a generous 667-litre boot, but the India-specific model is likely to see a reduction in luggage capacity to accommodate a third seating row. Practicality will be aided by a 40:20:40 split folding rear bench, allowing multiple cargo and seating configurations. Safety equipment is expected to include several airbags, a rear parking camera, and advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.
