New Skoda Enyaq Laurin & Klement Top-end Variant Globally Revealed; Gets Increased Range of up to 570 Km

Skoda Auto has revealed a new variant of the electric Enyaq SUV and Enyaq Coupe for the international market. This top-tier model has received improvements both inside and outside. Additionally, Skoda has added a slew of features as a standard to the model. Outside, the new Enyaq receives platinum grey accents on the bumpers, rear diffuser, and wing mirrors, which distinguishes it from other models in the range. In addition, chrome is used to complete the roof rails, window surrounds, and grille frame. The Enyaq L&K comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels and LED matrix headlights, with 21-inch wheels available as an option. According to Skoda, the new variant, bears the founders' names—Václav Laurin and Václav Klement. With the launch of the all-new version, the carmaker has removed the 'iV' suffix from the entire Enyaq lineup. As of now, Skoda has only showcased the model globally. It has not shared any information about its launch in the international market. Here are all the details about the new top-end variant in terms of powertrain, design, and features. 

New Skoda Enyaq Laurin and Klement: Mechanical Specifications 

The Skoda Enyaq L&K has two versions: the rear-wheel-drive Enyaq L&K 85 and the all-wheel-drive Enyaq L&K 85x. The Enyaq L&K 85, a rear-wheel-drive variant that once bore the name Enyaq iV 80, now delivers 278bhp of power, an increase of 201bhp from before. As far as the range goes, a significant boost has been noticed too. It has improved from 510 kilometre to 570 kilometre. The L&K 85x model of the Enyaq iV 80x all-wheel drive, on the other hand, now offers 278bhp, which is an up from the previous power output of 252bhp. In terms of range, the all-wheel drive variant now delivers an increased range of up to 550 kilometre.

The RWD Enyaq L&K accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds, which is around two seconds quicker than the Enyaq 80. It can go as fast as 180km/h. Meanwhile, the AWD L&K model speeds from 0 to 100km/h in 6.6 seconds. The Enyaq L&K can be charged from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes, thanks to an improved charging curve for the battery. Additionally, Skoda has released software that adds a new pre-heating feature for the battery on the L&K versions. According to the automaker, this software will be accessible on all Enyaq variants soon.

There are two options available for the pre-heating function: manual and automatic. The pre-heating feature aids in bringing the battery up to the ideal temperature before charging starts. In the first manual option, the battery pre-heats when the driver taps a button on the central infotainment screen, whereas in an automatic mode, the vehicle operates autonomously while en route to a fast-charging station using information from the navigation system.

The new L&K model has received several exterior cosmetic improvements, including bumpers, diffusers, and ORVMs, all detailed in Platinum Grey. Additionally, 131 LEDs are added to the grille as standard. The new variant has 20 or 21-inch alloy wheels, Matrix-LED headlamps as a standard feature, and L&K lettering on the front wings. Further, the new Enyaq comes in two different body types: the standard SUV and the coupe. On the inside, the new variant gets two designs for the cabin. The L&K Black is an option, while the Design Selection L&K Shell with beige leather upholstery is standard. In solely this variant, the front seats include massage and ventilation. The infotainment system has controls for these features. Aside from this, it has also received heated steering, aluminium pedals, and ambient lighting.

The redesigned user interface for the onboard displays, including the touchscreen, virtual cockpit digital driver display, and head-up display, is also running on the new Enyaq L&K. According to Skoda, convenience and usability were taken into consideration for designing the new UI. The revised navigation feature and menu designs, as well as the more precise air conditioning controls on the central touchscreen, are all part of the new user interface.

New Skoda Enyaq Laurin and Klement: Global Launch

For now, Skoda Auto has only revealed the new top-end variant for the international market. There is no word from the carmaker about the launch of the model in the global market. However, we anticipate it to release the model shortly. For India, there is no official report on the brand-new variant's market introduction. We expect more details on the top-spec model to emerge closer to the global launch.
