Nissan Magnite Facelift Gets 5-star Crash Test Safety Rating from Global NCAP: Watch Video

Nissan has taken a big step forward in safety with the facelifted Magnite, which earned a five-star rating for adult protection in the latest Global NCAP crash tests on July 24, 2025. Nissan had voluntarily sent the updated model for testing. The older version of the Magnite, tested back in 2022, had managed a four-star rating—but that was under older and easier rules. When retested this year with just two airbags, the facelifted model only got two stars.

Not happy with that, Nissan quickly acted. They sent in a better version of the Magnite with six airbags and electronic stability control (ESC). That version did better—it got four stars for both adult and child safety. Still, Nissan didn’t stop there. They made more changes and submitted the Magnite again. This time, it came back with a full five-star rating for adult protection, though the child safety score remained at three stars.

Looking at the numbers, the final version scored 32.31 out of 34 for adult safety, up from 26.51. The earlier model had shown weak chest and knee protection, but those areas improved in the new one. In crash tests, the structure stayed solid, and the SUV did well in side and pole impact tests too.

When it came to child safety, the latest version scored 33.64 out of 49. That’s slightly less than the earlier facelift’s score. Global NCAP said the seat for the 3-year-old dummy allowed the head to hit the car’s interior in a crash. The seat for the 18-month-old dummy offered better head protection, but the chest was still a concern. That’s why the child safety rating stayed at three stars.

The 2025 Nissan Magnite facelift is priced between Rs 6.14 lakh and Rs 11.76 lakh (ex-showroom). Its five-star adult safety rating makes it a stronger option in the busy subcompact SUV market. Nissan’s decision to keep improving and retesting the Magnite shows they’re serious about making safer cars.
