Onam 2025: Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun Flash Red Colour Option Announced in Kerala

Volkswagen has introduced a new ‘Flash Red’ colour option for the Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV in Kerala. The new colour is exclusive to the GT Line trims of these models, which come with premium features and are powered by a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. The addition of the new colour adds a festive touch to the sporty appeal of these Volkswagen models, though no other mechanical or design changes have been made. The availability of the Flash Red Edition for the Virtus and Taigun is currently not confirmed for other markets. However, given their sporty and aggressive appeal, we anticipate these variants could be introduced in other regions too. 

Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, said, 'Kerala has been one of our focus markets and this year we are delighted to be celebrating the festive spirit of Onam Chingam with the introduction of this new colour.'

He also added, 'Kerala’s discerning customers have made the Virtus the highest-selling premium sedan in the state with the sedan commanding a market share of 49 % in its segment, currently.'

Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun GT Line: Powertrain

The GT Line variants of the Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun have a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI engine that delivers 113bhp of maximum power and 178Nm of peak torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic for handling transmission chores.

Volkswagen also offers a 1.5-litre TSI engine in the higher trims of the cars. The more powerful unit produces 148bhp and 250Nm, and is available with transmission options like a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG.

Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun GT Line: Features

The cars are equipped with an array of comfort and safety features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a single-pane electric sunroof, push-button start/stop, 6 airbags (as standard), electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and rear parking camera with sensors.
