Ssangyong has revealed a new concept car called the LIV-2 at the Paris Motor Show.

The SsangYong LIV-2 Concept that has been revealed at the Paris Motor Show will be the car that will spawn the new production version of the Rexton net year.

The name LIV-2 according to SsangYong means ‘Limitless Interface Vehicle’ which also introduces Ssangyong’s new design philosophy which future SUV’s from the manufacturer will comes draped in.

The LIV-2 is closer to being a more production version of the LIV-1 that was showcased at the Seoul Motor Show in 2013, but is not a complete production car as yet. The car is powered by a choice of a 2.2-litre diesel engine, that churns out 181hp and 350Nm of torque, with a six-speed manual gearbox. The car will also get an all new 2.0-litre turbo petrol GDi engine that develops 225hp with 420Nm of torque and will be mated to either a six-speed automatic, six-speed manual or a seven speed automatic gearbox options.

The designing of the interior has been done with a close attention to comfort and a sense of premium. The LIV-2 will come loaded with technology like – a 9.2-inch infotainment screen on the front centre console, while the rear passengers will get 10.1-inch displays mounted on the back of the front seat headrests. The car will also feature wifi, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which can also ben controlled via the rear centre console touch screen. The interior cabin will be finished in leather and piano black accents, in addition to mood lighting and reclining seats for rear passengers as well.

Regarding the safety equipment, the LIV-2 features 9 airbags and advanced emergency braking technology that uses a mix of camera, radar and lasers to scan the road ahead. It also has blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, cross traffic alert and headlights with high-beam assist.

SsangYong will reveal the final production version of the car, which will be the new Rexton, next year and it is expected to arrive in India in the second half of 2017. However, the car is yet to be confirmed for the Indian market officially by SsangYong
